Spring High Point Market 2023 did not disappoint! It wasn’t overly crowded, you could walk into showrooms and take pictures without people in them, and so many wonderful people from our community attended and came out to connect!
If you haven’t made the trip to HPMKT yet (hopefully you are planning on it!) Here are 5 things that you can expect from every market, along with some trends and some of my favorite product from this year’s Spring Market!
And now, I’m going to share a few trends from spring market…
The ottoman game was on point in this market. From the pull out ottoman bed at Norwalk, to the unique shapes, colors and patterns across many other showrooms. It’s about time for ottomans to shine and I’m just tickled to see it.
Are you ready to switch things up from the “gray ages” and add some warm and inviting tones to your designs? Well, look no further because brown is the new go-to neutral!
I know what you’re thinking, “Brown? Really?” But trust me, these new shades are not your grandma’s boring brown. Think beautiful walnut tones and golden browns that will make any room feel cozy and welcoming. Plus, they’re super versatile and can be paired with a variety of accent colors, or left as a neutral monochromatic with lots of texture variation.
But enough talk, let’s get to the good stuff – PICTURES! Check out these amazing brown decor pics that will inspire you to embrace the new neutral.
And speaking of adding some fun and whimsy to your designs, have you heard? Animals are trending! I mean, they’ve always been popular in home decor, but this season they were everywhere at market. From cute dog and monkey stools to CHEETAH’S (yes, it was a total cheetah take over this market – and not just the fabrics) table top decor, there’s no shortage of animal-inspired pieces to add a touch of playfulness to your space. Here are some of my favorite animal decor finds.
The first is this beautiful handcrafted console table by Victor Betancourt in Mexico. Hand beaded one piece at a time, this is truly a remarkable one-of-a-kind piece of art. The wood console is 1 large piece of wood cut meticulously into 90 degree angles to create a quilted look. Some pieces then have each square painted different colors or one solid color (black, brown, or other colors). The craftsmanship is impeccable and they were so welcoming at the booth! Truly a must see next market. Welcome to Flex (victorbetancourt.com)
The other thing that caught my attention was the hyperrealism of the faux flowers at New Growth Designs. From a family of florists, the owners wanted to create greenery and floral that is so close to the real thing that most people would never know until they get really close to it – and even then it’s hard to tell! I will say, this was the first time I’ve ever walked into a floral showroom and didn’t need an allergy pill to stay longer than 3 minutes, but I felt that I was in a greenhouse!
Even before you walk inside you are greeted with their Enduraleaf collection of UV-stable plants and trees that were designed to withstand being outside (for at least 5 years).
From the entrance to the back of the showroom, I was in awe of these stunning realistic trees and flowers. Definitely a showroom I’ll be visiting again.
Lastly, the people. After years of building an online business, I know so many people only from their tiny profile picture. So when I get to meet so many designers that I’ve chatted with online in person, I’m seriously overjoyed! Every trade show I attend, whether it’s HPMKT, Atlanta FurnitureMart or KBIS (more coming soon), this is always my highlight. I love to meet the designers that fuel this industry. The ones that are out there making the world a beautiful place. That’s why I go to market each year, and why I can’t wait to go back in the fall!
I hope to meet you there in October!
