Recently I contacted several influential bloggers for some promotional opportunities with Mydoma Studio. One of the first things I tend to do when looking into influencers to work with is ask for a media kit. I was very surprised by the number of bloggers who didn't have one, so I figured why not help you create your own.
First let's start with an explanation. What exactly is a media kit?
In practical terms, a media kit (sometimes referred to as a press kit) is a gathering of important information that potential advertisers/sponsors would want to know about your blog/website/social following.
Why would an interior design blogger need one?
In all honesty, you don't need a media kit per se. If you are just content to write your blog for your followers the way you are with no changes that's fine too. But if you are looking to monetize/grow your blog with partnerships, sponsorships, product reviews (which often come with free products- yay!), advertisements, sponsored trips to trade shows, etc. the companies who are going to be funding this are going to want to make sure you are the right fit for their target audience.
What should I include in my media kit?
Now I'm going to say this will depend based on what type of opportunities you're hoping to nail down- but here's a general idea of what you should include:
Side note, another great way to monetize your blog is with by participating in affiliate programs for products you're a fan of. For tips on affiliate marketing, check out: 7 marketing ideas for affiliate partners.
