People, Panels and Products

As we wind down from the latest whirlwind that is High Point market – we wanted to recap the highlights of our latest trip to HPMKT, this fall 2022. This market for the Mydoma team was all about the people, and we were so over the moon to meet so many designers from our community in person!

With so many exciting events and activities, we can honestly say that the product isn’t the only reason why designers all flock to High Point, NC each spring and fall – it’s truly about the connection to our fellow designers that makes the trip so worthwhile.

Our events at HPMKT Fall 2022

Let’s begin with the events at market! One of our favorite things to do is to connect IRL with all the designers we’ve come to love through our chat bubble and social communities.

The first event we attended was in celebration of the woman that brings so many designers together – and who has single-handedly changed the lives of a large portion of the design community. The Mydoma team was so honored to co-host LuAnn Nigara’s 60th birthday with Jaipur Living in their beautiful new showroom.

LuAnn shared a number of stories that changed her life and inspired her to do what she does today with the 200+ people in attendance. We were all elated to hear a little more behind what makes her tick and what her “Aha” moments were in her life.

Not only did we get to toast to LuAnn’s 60th trip around the sun, but we also got to mingle with designers from all over the continent that we haven’t seen in person in a couple of years (or ever!) The online connections and friendships that so many designers have made through Facebook communities and on social media finally came together all in one place at LuAnn’s celebration.

It was truly amazing to be amongst so many positive people and an incredible energy all in one place – that is the power of HPMKT.

Next up was The Mydoma #Vhometour designer mixer held at “The Point”. This event was an incredible celebration of the winners of the Mydoma Designer Virtual Home Tour and a mixer between many communities all in one place.

Sarah Daniele (CEO & Co-founder of Mydoma) and Jenna Gaidusek (Director of Community & Education) announced the top 6 rendered design concept winners as well as the VIP grand prize winner at the party.

We broadcasted the announcement on social media so designers that couldn’t make it LIVE could also see who won and feel the excitement in the room when they were announced. Many designers in attendance that were not familiar with the Mydoma Visualizer were blown away by the photorealism and design talents of the participants.

The design challenge kicked off at the end of August and participants shared their take on 1 of 2 client avatars. They designed the space for their functionality (a young family and an aging in-place family) but they put a design spin on it that was entirely their own.

Along with the rendering training included in the contest there were 5 weeks of educational webinars on various topics, from how to create reels with Claire Jefford, to blogging for interior designers with Masha Koyen, and creating passive income from your renders with Jenna Gaidusek.

The goal of all the education available to participants was to help them to not just create this render for the contest but to use it to further their marketing ventures to gain new clients. They participated in 6 weeks of pop-up design challenges on social media to help them connect with their real life ideal client and also build out their render portfolio and new imagery for their websites.

We are so proud of all the designers that submitted entries for the contest, the work was truly beautiful! Check them out here!

Congratulations to all the winners of the #Vhometour contest! And a special thank you to all of the contest partners that provided such amazing prizes.

Also, a special thank you to High Point Market Authority for co-sponsoring the event at the Point. You made our night magical, and the design this season was absolutely perfect for our meet up!

Workshops & Panels at HPMKT Fall 2022

The education at High Point Market for design professionals is unparalleled. All these brilliant minds in one place, there is always a compelling panel or workshop going on at HPMKT to help you grow your business.

We got to tune into Claire Jefford and Linda Holt’s workshop called “Let’s Get Reel’s”. It was such an eye opener for how to take the best photography for social media while at market (and for your projects) courtesy of Linda’s photography background. And Claire shared her clever tips and tricks to master Instagram Reels.

We also got to tune into the Get Your Design Biz Organized panel with Sherwin Williams and our own Sarah Daniele. This knowledgeable panel shared so many insightful tips, from a project management and rendering perspective to working smarter with Sherwin Williams tools to find the best paint color and finishes for your projects. The questions from the audience were so smart and truly showed that designers are planning for their clients’ needs, and how they can better streamline their workflow.

Product & Trends seen at HPMKT Fall 2022

We don’t want to give away too many spoilers as to what was hot this fall at market because you should definitely tune into the High Point Fall Market 2022 Recap With Mydoma & Friends (or catch the replay!) This round-table has a few of our friends that attended market,  Antonio DeLoatch of Antonio DeLoatch Design + Interiors, Jordan Victoria of Atelier Jordan, and Melissa Fields of Shades of Gray Design Studio.

But here’s a small sample of all the beautiful products we had the privilege of indulging ourselves in.

It was very clear that many showrooms are on trend with the Sherwin-Williams color of the year SW 9081 Redend Point in the Terra family, because in nearly 75% of the showrooms we saw some shade of this earthy neutral displayed.  We saw some hue of this color represented in upholstery, feature walls, textiles and accessories. And honestly- it’s pretty gorgeous in person and we are totally here for it!

The Sherwin-Williams booth and designer lounge in Market Square not only had manicurists on site, but they also had a really interesting display of their paint and peel-and-stick paint samples.

Custom Upholstery - Private Label

This concept is far from new, but with the reality of designers being shopped constantly online with image searching capabilities, there are alternatives that many designers are exploring – including the creation of their own private label custom upholstery line.

This new- semi-passive income is one any designer can add to their website as their very own eCommerce product line. You can create renders of your curated white label product lines with custom fabrics and finishes using the Mydoma Visualizer and then sell them on your own website!

We’re always like kids in a candy store when we visit the Sourcc/PL (Private Label) showroom on Wrenn St.

All the fabrics, and all the possibilities to create something that is difficult for consumers to do comparison shopping online makes it an incredibly exciting prospect!

Just like the configuration options – the additional revenue streams that designers can add to their business are endless with this accessible private label program. And as a bonus, the frames are already loaded into the Mydoma Visualizer – so all you have to do is drag-and-drop the pieces you want to your clients’ designs and upload the COM (or stock) fabric options you want to source for your client.

You are also able to upload your own 3D models to the visualizer and create your own program using any vendor or program you’d like! Then, take it one step further and submerge your clients or website viewers in the space that you use these custom pieces with a VR headset.

Here’s a small preview of what that program looks like:

A few other highlights

We always love perusing the antiques and just learned that this building is open year round!

We are thrilled to see COLOR back in showrooms. We started to see it coming back in full swing at the Spring market, but now it’s back in full force baby!
